Story of Golden Poovankula
In Meloor, northeast of Koratty, a farmer was bringing offerings to Koratty Muthiamma when one of the farm supervisors forcefully ate a plantain (Poovan banana) kept aside for the offering. Soon after, he began to suffer from severe stomach pain.
As a remedy, about forty acres of farmland were donated to Koratty Muthiamma, and his pain was miraculously cured. From that day onwards, offering Poovan bananas became one of the main votive offerings at Koratty Muthiamma’s shrine.
